The average life span of a 15th century man in England was thirty years.

(The World’s Greatest Book of Useless Information)

We often forget how far we’ve come.  Please allow this to be a reminder.

A 65 year old today lives 6 years longer than a 65 year old in 1900.

The greatest things modern medicine have brought us are vaccines, antibiotics, and sanitation…the things that allow us to survive childhood.

Is bankrupting our country worth an extra 6 years in our 80’s?

Hard question. Seemingly weird question. But something we should question.

Um, excuse me, but aren’t you guys misreading this? When you say the average person live six years longer today than 110 years ago, this is not to say that every person lives six years longer, but that more people are living past childhood. Most of that life span improvement is due to these things like the aforementioned vaccines, antibiotics and sanitation, not because all of us are going on heart-lung machines for the past six years of our lives.
