I watched the whole fucking episode and thought it was ridiculous. They’ve exhausted ways to show us the 60’s were fucked, so they’re starting to criticize the ‘20’s. It’s a pretty show that hopes the audience finds meaning that isn’t there.

Skybarn

While I don’t feel as strongly as skybarn, I’m beginning to wonder what is going on at the show. The 60’s were fucked, yes, but the entire decade is RIPE with material; incidents and history that can be shaped into storylines. How they are able to not discuss ANY of it, in the context of an advertising agency, is beyond me. REALLY?

Driving Miss Daisy looks more thoughtful in addressing race (I HATE that movie) than this show and Peggy smoking weed can’t be the biggest breakthrough in her quest for independence. For goodness sake.

It’s not that they’re critical of other decades so much as simply an acknowledgement that even the past has a past; in the ‘Mad Men’ universe the 20s are to that time what the 60s are to today.
