john:

Something like 10 degrees in NYC today.  Mark and I trying to hail a cab at 4pm, worst possible time. No luck so we bribe a car service driver.

Just as we’re getting in the 87-year-old woman yells out, “Hey! I got a dentist emergency can I share that car?”

What followed next was one of those special New York experiences. We learned a ton in 15 minutes.  Thanks for the life lesson, Ethel, and the lunch invite.

This woman was amazing. She’s lived in NYC for more than 60 years; Eleanor Roosevelt came to talk to her high school class. She lives on Gramercy Park.

And I forgot to take pictures.
