“I didn’t hate the movie. I kind of liked it. But I think it’s a very glib and cynical film about the foundation of our new way of life. This new social network is shown as being rooted in betrayal, in greed, in sexism, in naked class envy … while at the same time, I think it appeals to this pervasive 21st-century fantasy of wanting to be a billionaire. It’s a good business saga, but I’m mystified by how many people think it’s a groundbreaking movie about a turning point in American culture.”
David Edelstein, explaining why The Social Network didn’t make his top films list for 2010. (via nprfreshair)
I’d also add that Sorkin’s characters always sound like Sorkin, which drives me nuts.

I only recently got around to seeing The Social Network. While I would agree the story itself seems to lack any actual ingenuity I always found my self captivated by Aaron Sorkin’s brilliant dialogue.
