Book Burning…
caro:
It’s freezing in my apartment right now. I’m wearing a polar fleece (and still cold) and my dog is actually shivering. Am considering culling my book collection and starting a fire with the disposables. At a glance: prime candidates (bulky hardcovers only, as those make better fires):
…SPECIAL TOPICS IN CALAMITY PHYSICS by Marisha Pessl. It wasn’t bad; I just got a little bored with it halfway through and I know it’s one of those books I’ll never, ever pick up again and finish.
Burn that one and I’ll send you some old magazines to help stoke the fire out of gratitude. I made the mistake of actually finishing it. The second half utterly devolved and the characters got so dislikeable that I felt like puking once it was finally over. Maybe I did puke. I don’t remember.
Middlemarch, most definitely. Just because they make you read it in sophomore English, and just because there’s narry a cosmo to be found, doesn’t mean it isn’t basically just long, boring chick lit.

I liked that book, it’s true about the 2nd half but that’s high school, right?
