Good question! Yes, we pay the large majority of our interns; it’s both the right thing to do and the law. In a few cases, we have arrangements with schools in which interns are not paid, but work for a limited time during the semester for college credit. By our rough estimate, our ratio of paid vs. college credit internships in an average year is about 9-1. 

By “not just with whiskey” he means “mostly with red wine.”

Whatever we paid you with, Aku, it wasn’t nearly enough.
